The path to becoming an architect is one of the most demanding in any profession. But is it too demanding?

The Challenge

A Shrinking Workforce - In 2024, the number of licensed architects decreased by 4%, even as interest in the field increased.

The Drop-off Problem - Approximately 36–38% of candidates stop pursuing licensure over time.

The Exam Challenge - ~55% average pass rate and ~2% pass all exams on the first try. Compared to other professions, these numbers are significantly lower.

Why It’s So Difficult

Architecture requires:

  • Technical coordination

  • Creative thinking

  • Communication skills

  • Responsibility for public safety
