Lakeland Veterinary started as a mobile veterinary clinic prior to leasing an existing 3,635-square-foot building in Pinckney, Michigan, which is being thoughtfully reimagined into a welcoming, pet-friendly veterinary clinic designed to support both medical efficiency and client comfort. The renovation transforms a traditional medical facility into a modern animal care environment, balancing functional clinical workflows with a warm, approachable experience for pets and their owners.

Through collaborative planning and architectural design, the project focuses on aligning the client’s vision with practical solutions that enhance daily operations while creating a space that feels calm, inviting, and rooted in compassionate care.

The existing structure provides a strong foundation for adaptive reuse, offering an opportunity to rethink how space flows for staff, clients, and animals alike. Careful evaluation of circulation, accessibility, and existing building conditions informs the design approach, helping the clinic transition from a traditional medical setting into a specialized veterinary environment.

Located within the Pinckney community, the renovation balances efficiency and approachability, creating clear entry points, intuitive wayfinding, and spaces that reduce stress for both pets and their owners.

The design reimagines the 3,635-square-foot facility as a fully operational veterinarian clinic tailored to the unique needs of animal healthcare. Strategic space planning supports exam rooms, treatment areas, and client-focused environments while maintaining flexibility for future growth.

By combining thoughtful material selections, functional layouts, and a welcoming aesthetic, the proposal turns an existing building into a modern veterinary destination,  transforming the client’s vision into a space that supports high-quality care and strengthens its connection to the surrounding community.
