WNEM 5 Focus on 5: Veterans Village Part 3

Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Catholic Charities Sacred Heart Veteran Village led by Sedgewick + Ferweda Architects’ Project Manager, Bailey Ramirez. Learn how trauma-informed design guided the creation of the spaces to support and uplift those who have served. From sightlines and lighting to communal spaces and privacy considerations, each element is intentionally crafted to reduce stress triggers and foster healing, while addressing the unique needs of veterans experiencing homelessness by prioritizing safety, dignity, and emotional well-being.

Through interviews, design insights, and project walkthroughs, the video reveals how architecture can become part of a veteran’s support system, complementing social services, counseling, and community programming. This village promotes stability, trust, and hope through the powerful role of trauma-informed design and shapes spaces where veterans can truly rebuild their lives.
